9 No-Carve Pumpkin Decorating Ideas

The fall is a great time to decorate with pumpkins, but what do you do when you don’t necessarily want a jack-o-lantern or would like to decorate a pumpkin without all the mess of carving? Fortunately, there are some really fun no carve ways for decorating pumpkins. A little creativity can really go a long way!

Here are 9 ideas for pumpkin decorating ideas without carving – less mess but still a ton of fun for fall!

Idea #1: Googley Eyes Pumpkins

Here’s a really easy way to add some character to your pumpkins – all you need are some large plastic craft eyes and a little glue!

Idea #2: Glitter

Ok, so maybe this one might be a little messy, but it’s a lot of fun to do and the effects are beautiful!

To make a glitter pumpkin, all you need is a can of Krylon Glitter Blast spray paint in your favorite color…lots of fun! You can find glitter spray paint at most craft and retail stores.

Idea #3: Mr. Potato Head

Mr. Potato Head  parts and pieces can all be gently pushed into the pumpkin to create your own one of a kind Mr. (or Mrs.) Pumpkin Head!

Idea #4: Ribbon

Craft ribbons can be tied around a pumpkin in many different ways, shapes, and forms. YouTube is a great source of inspiration for finding bow and ribbon tying tutorials!

Idea #5: Dress it Up

A hat, a wig, a scarf – you never know what you might make! Halloween is the perfect time to visit thrift stores, consignment shops and clean out the closets!

Idea #6: Mummy Pumpkin

Some cheesecloth or other mesh fabric wrapped around the pumpkin with drawn on eyes and you’ll have a mummy pumpkin in no time!

Idea #7: Book Pages Pumpkin

Have an old book or dictionary that you no longer use or will never read again? Rip out the pages and using ModPodge or similiar adhesive, glue torn pieces of the paper to the pumpkin for a decoupage effect.

Idea #9: Mosaic Pumpkin

Use beads, tile, or stone to create a mosaic pumpkin! Most craft stores sell inexpensive mosaic kits or you can browse the many mosaic tutorials online to learn the different materials necessary. You can use large foam balls and cover with adhesive/grout and make a wonderful Halloween keepsake that will become a work of art and is very fun to make!

Decorating for fall doesn’t have to mean making a mess or carving out pumpkins – you can still have a lot of fun with these ideas to make your one of a kind unique creation to decorate for Halloween!
